Medicare and AEP – Be Ready So You Can Be Covered

Medicare and AEP – Be Ready So You Can Be Covered

Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is quickly approaching – mark your calendars for October 15 through December 7.  This is the time when those with Medicare coverage can make changes to their plans and benefits.  Work with a trusted and licensed Medicare agent to ensure you have the best coverage, based on your current healthcare needs, lifestyle, and budgetary considerations.

If you have Original or “straight” Medicare, you are covered for Part A (hospital) and Part B (outpatient) services.  Original Medicare does not cover prescription medications; you would need to purchase a stand-alone prescription drug plan (PDP) for medications coverage.  And remember, with Original Medicare, you do not have an out-of-pocket maximum, meaning that there is no limit to the amount you will pay out of pocket (i.e., copays, deductibles, etc.) in any given year.  A Medicare Advantage plan, on the other hand, typically will have an out-of-pocket maximum and may include a prescription drug plan to help pay for any medications necessary.  Many Medicare Advantage plans have other benefits, known as ancillary benefits, such as dental, vision and hearing coverage, personal emergency response systems (PERs), gym memberships, acupuncture, and chiropractic, to name a few.

Your healthcare insurance coverage is important – sit down with a Medicare agent today and discuss your needs and what you would like in a Medicare plan.  Your Medicare agent should be able to do a complimentary review of your current Medicare plan to ensure you are still on the right path for you and your healthcare needs.  Plans change from year to year and people change from moment to moment.  Get the best out of your Medicare policy…you’ve earned it and you deserve it!  Talk with an agent today for peace of mind tomorrow.
